ICAMA is the Ithaca College chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).AMA is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing marketing science and promoting professional development through research, education, and adherence to ethical practices. It serves over 45,000 members across 500 professional and 400 collegiate chapters worldwide. As a collegiate chapter, members of ICAMA get to network and learn from industry leaders and professionals through events, speaker events, consulting work, and competitions hosted by AMA.
ICAMA offers a wide range of opportunities for student engagement and professional development. Each fall, our primary focus is preparing for AMA’s International Collegiate Conference, with competitive entries in website development, recruitment video production, and the prestigious case competition. This competition provides hands-on experience in developing comprehensive marketing plans, from conducting primary and secondary research to executing media strategies.
Beyond competitions, ICAMA actively collaborates with local Ithaca businesses and campus organizations to enhance their marketing efforts, promotional outreach, and brand visibility. Our meetings feature guest speakers from diverse industries who share valuable career insights, interactive sessions that simulate real-world marketing scenarios, and creative case studies designed to challenge students to think strategically and develop confidence in their instincts as marketers.
Through ICAMA, students can claim a discounted membership to join AMA. Through AMA, members can connect with their extensive network of industry leaders and professionals to research job/internship opportunities or learn more about specific industries. In ICAMA, we coordinate with Ithaca College's Center for Career Exploration and Development to host workshops to develop personal branding, resumes, LinkedIn pages, and other vital networking skills.
